ARTS for PEACE CAMP
June 23 through 27, 2008

Arts for Peace Camp's mission is to open the hearts and imaginations of children to the deep longing of people of all ages, cultures and beliefs to have a peaceful place to live.
Back by popular demand with new summer dates, Grace Institute, in collaboration with Grace Memorial, will offer Arts for Peace for students currently in grades 1 through 5. Campers will have the rare opportunity to explore peaceful practices of the three Abrahamic faith traditions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam – through story, field trips and interpretive art projects.
Each morning, students will meet in assembly at 9:00 am. On field trips, students will visit a the Jewish Synagogue, Neveh Shalom, Christian Churches, including Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, and the Islamic Mosque, Bilal Mosque.
Back on campus, students will transform their personal responses to the peaceful practices of each religion into works of art. Art studio experiences will include Ceramics & Glass, Fibre Arts, Music & Movement and Visual Arts. Each day will conclude with an afternoon assembly and sharing.
